1.   In the Shadow of Lightning  by  Brian McClellan  A new Brian McClellan series is a thing for celebration! I admit, i haven't frankly finished one full series yet, but as usual, am going to be swayed with the promise of a new world, new heroes and a brand spanking cool magic system. Out on June 21st. 2.  Against All Gods  by  Miles Cameron Another author whose works I have admired, but have never finished a series yet. This one promises to be an all out epic fantasies, with Gods pitted against men, heroes, filled with epic quests and mythical monsters. Definitely going to be catching up on this!   3.  Daughter of Redwinter  by  Ed McDonald After having run through his absolutely brilliant grimdark first series, Ed McDonald is one of my automatic top of the TBR authors now. I am so glad, he's back alright after that medical scare of his! Rooting for this one and I am sure, as usual, Ed is going to knock the socks off with t...

September looks to be dishy month in terms of some great books coming out in SFF Genre. I've listed a few on my most-wanted list, top of the TBR pile. Twelve Kings of Sharakhai by Bradley P Beaulieu   Sharakhai, the great city of the desert, center of commerce and culture, has been ruled from time immemorial by twelve kings—cruel, ruthless, powerful, and immortal. With their army of Silver Spears, their elite company of Blade Maidens, and their holy defenders, the terrifying asirim, the Kings uphold their positions as undisputed, invincible lords of the desert. There is no hope of freedom for any under their rule. Or so it seems, until Çeda, a brave young woman from the west end slums, defies the Kings’ laws by going outside on the holy night of Beht Zha’ir. What she learns that night sets her on a path that winds through both the terrible truths of the Kings’ mysterious history and the hidden riddles of her own heritage. Together, these secrets could finally break the iro...

Books on the List

Yaawn!! That has been my predominant waking state for like the past few days. and I been zombie-walking through so many books and movies that I thought I should be keeping a count. So what have I been reading for the past few days? I recently finished the decisively intriguing debut that rocked our world (ahem, meaning that of the SFF fans) in 2012 - a brutal, hard-hitting slim low-fantasy called Scourge of the Betrayer for which the sequel is just about to hit the stands. Jeff Salyards is a remarkable man. I loved the book but I felt the book with it's super-tight focus on this mysterious group of superbly trained soldiers led by this enigmatic captain called Braylar Killcoin ( I thought the name was such a hoot. KillCoin. I will kill for coin. I am KillCoin the mercenary?) slightly underwhelms - an inward focus, a naive scribe kept in the dark who forms our narrator and some gory bloodletting accompanied by Joe Abercrombiesque cussing and hints about a dark forbidding...
