Daredevil Season 3

Image
The Marvel universe within Netflix is hinged around this blind man, who knows no fear and is fighting tooth and nail everyday to save his city, Hell's Kitchen, either from mysterious ninja-gods or larger-than-life villains orchestrating moves from within prison walls. And I daresay, Season 3 is a welcome comeback for Daredevil , possibly the best outing yet. In many ways - bringing us back to the streets of Hell's Kitchen that becomes the bloody chess-board for a game of cat and mouse, between the Devil and hold your breath, the Kingpin [ The villain we love!] and the introduction of Bullseye as the King's daring key-piece to upset the whole board. See, apart from Daredevil, the other "superheroes" haven't really set our pulses racing quite like Matt Murdoch 's alter-ego. There's something heart-breaking and immensely loveable about Charlie Cox 's brilliant portrayal of this vulnerable man, questioning his faith in God and his own abiliti...

Punisher Season 1: Review

Image
After Daredevil Season 2, I haven’t binge-watched a series like I did, for Punisher . Maybe because it is interconnected and after the soaring highs and the nerve-wracking tension meted out for Daredevil , I knew this was not to be missed out. So we switch back to Jon Bernthal once again. Jesus, this man. What a fine understated actor. We have see the animal grunts, the unflinching blows, the crackling guns and the exploding bombs, the gushing blood and the bruised broken purplish skin. But in a series completed headlined by him, Jon shows that he can swing either extremes. To be the tender caring lover or the sensitive dad or the faithful friend. He can emote through the whole spectrum of roles and this time, he carries the series masterfully through – punching, gasping, kicking and coughin blood yes as we would expect him to, but the quieter, contemplative avatar, we love more. Punisher, after having gunned down all the biker gangs and armed convicts in Hell’s Kitchen that ...

Daredevil - Season 2: My Thoughts

Image
Just finished the final episode of Daredevil Season 2 from Netflix . And I am in bit of a dilemma, as to whether I liked it better than the first season or not. After much deliberation with the magic of that brilliant finale fading from my memory, I decide, not. So, the Man who knows no fear, the masked vigilante who's  so in love with his city, Hell's Kitchen of New York is back cleaning up the streets at night, after having put his biggest nemesis, Wilson Fiske behind the bars in that stunning first season - that impressed the shit out of me, as a viewer. In fact, I remember I had binge-watched the same , back to back, night after night and couldn't wait for Season-2. Now, that I am finally done with it, though, I cannot say I feel the same level of breathless, frenetic enthusiasm for the franchise. This is not to say, that the Season 2 wasn't great. It was more of a see-saw for me - and the giant void left by the exit of Daredevil's biggest villain, Wils...

Marvel's Daredevil - Season 2 - Official Trailer

Image
So Daredevil Season-1 was a binge watch for me last month and what a series! I was blown away by the performances - the grit and dark of how the whole fight for Hell's Kitchen was orchestrated on the mini-screen. These days I get goosebumps when I think of Netflix Originals!! So was super excited to see the first trailer for season-2 that was released a few days back! Can't wait to share with my readers!! And the fight for Hell's Kitchen gets blown up a whole different direction with the introduction of Mr. Frank Castle AKA Punisher - another of my favorite comic characters in this universe. And hey, DO WAIT FOR THE END!!

Daredevil Season One.

I am just coming off a binge watch of all thirteen episodes of Daredevil , season one. And man! What a brilliant watch! Marvel’s dark knight, Daredevil – an original series from Netflix really is an outstanding series, aesthetically and thematically being very dark – and realistic in terms of treatment of the comic book – comes out a winner at all levels. Hell’s Kitchen, the neighbourhood where the story plays out is home for Matt Murdoch , a blind lawyer by day and vigilante by night, cleaning up the evil in the city. Shady human traffickers and shadier real estate developers, the backside of Manhattan’s city skyscraper is the breeding ground for many such. And the kingpin of all this, is Wilson Fiske – a man who deludes himself into believing that he is “cleaning” up the city himself, making it a beautiful place to live in. First season pits Matt against Fiske in a game of shadows that ups the ante – when it comes to suspense and violence as we head towards the climax. ...
